HUMBLE PIE – DISCOGRAPHY RECOPILADO POR VÍCTOR CARRILLO GONZALES

Humble Pie fue una Superbanda que se formó de las cenizas de los grandes ex MODS  SMALL FACES que con la inclusión de ROD STEWART y RON WOOD serían los FACES, (STEVE MARRIOTT - vocales, armónicas y guitarra), THE HEARD (PETER FRAMPTON - vocales y guitarras)  y la sensacional banda SPOOKY TOOTH (GREGG RIDLEY, bajo y vocales),  a finales de 1968, debido a la insatisfacción por parte de FRAMPTON  de que no lo cataloguen como un "niño bonito por las revistas de adolescentes en pañales" sino se le valore como un buen guitarrista, compositor e interprete, por ello le preguntó al bueno de STEVIE  si conocía gente para la banda recomendándole en primer lugar al bueno de JERRY SHIRLEY (de apenas 16 años para las baquetas) al gran bajista y cantante GREGG RILEY (que pasó a mejor vida hace 03 años) y al final se auto recomendó el gran MARRIOTT de forma humilde si podía ser parte del proyecto, hecho que llenó de agrado a FRAMPTON  y nace la leyenda.

Los dos primeros álbumes del sello INMEDIATE RECORDS  del ex manager de los ROLLING STONES ANDREW LOOG OLDHAM, quien también fungía de representante son de clara tendencia electroacústica, sobre todo el de debut "AS SAFE AS YESTERDAY IS" donde las armonía vocales destacan y se respira a hierba por todos los surcos,  con el liderazgo compartido entre FRAMPTON y MARRIOTT, posteriormente MARRIOTT  de manera galopante va liderando la banda y se van orientando hacia el Hard Rock, grabando un magnífico LP en vivo  en el FILLMORE (1971), donde destaca la aflautada voz de MARRIOTT  y FRAMPTON,  sintiéndose demás en su banda decide marcharse para iniciar posteriormente una exitosa carrera solista.

 Posteriormente entra el ex COLLOSEUM "CLEM CLEMSON para las guitarras y el grupo va orientándose hacia el Hard Rock con influencia del Soul, arrasan en ventas con el LP "SMOKIN", añadiendo luego  en sus presentaciones a tres magníficas coristas negras sino escuchen el tema I BELIEVE TO MY SOUL en le infravalorado LP  doble EAT IT  de 1973, inquieto como su espíritu lo guío, STEVE  abandona el proyecto en 1975 grabándose el irregular híbrido "STREET RATS", en los 80's recompone la banda con dos LPS olvidables y el gran MARRIOTT desligado para siempre de PIE continúa como solista, en 1991 hace las paces con FRAMPTON,  graban dos demos de gran calidad, y  parecía el milagro de resucitar a los 04 PIES originales,  pero el destino lo quiso, pues al regresar a su domicilio en 1991 en estado de ebriedad y con un pucho de cigarro en la mano, se incendia la vivienda y muere el gran STEVIE, larga vida a esta SUPERBANDA y el allí su discografía para disfrutarla.
