GIMME SOME TRUTH DEL DISCO IMAGINE DE JOHN LENNON:

 

Para mi entender Imagine es el segundo disco solista de John  Lennon  (sin contar los 3 olvidables experimentos sonoros de la anterior década ni el Revival Show de Toronto de 1969 y este Album es editado primero en USA  el 9 de setiembre de 1971, un mes más tarde su publicó en UK, las diez canciones son del a autoria de John, salvo  la menos lograda "Oh My Love" que coescribió con Yoko Ono, está totalmente documentado y filmado la creación del disco  (los curiosos pueden encontrar vasta documentación hasta en tres  Dvds entre piratas y oficiales al respecto y  la película sobre la vida de John Lennon hecha por  Andrew Solt en los noventas.

 

Aunque se le otorgado la autoría del tema principal que da título al disco  y en mi humilde opinión creo que es cierto porque si uno revisa su libro “Grapefuit de 1964 encontramos el poema “Tunafish Sandwich pie” encontramos los siguientes versos:

 

Tunafish Sandwich Piece":

"Imagine one thousand suns in the /

Sky at the same time. /

Let them shine for one hour. /

Then, let them gradually melt /

 Into the sky. /

 Make one Tunafish sandwich and eat."

 

Y en 1971 fue su primera reedición ¡coincidencia? ¡Por algo los actuales créditos compartidos con Yoko como realmente corresponde.

 

El disco es un clásico uno de los mejores de Lennon, aunque no el de mi preferencia siempre me quedare con el “JL Plastic Ono Band” y para  recordar este cásico lo acompaño de mi tema preferido del álbum llamado “Gimme Somme Truth” (muy oportuno en estos días) cuya melodía base nació en enero de 1969 em los ensayos de lo que iba a ser el film “Let i be” y que luego Lennon y luego modifica la letra sobre todo arremete contra los políticos mentirosos, hipócritas , mitómanos que siempre mienten sobre todo en la fe de la población y en 1971 el mensaje era  directo contra Richard Nixon (Tricky Dicky era su apodo) y como pasó ese presidente de USA  un par de años después tuvo su “Watergate” o sea  se vio obligado a renunciar por su acciones y el solo de guitarra slide es de George Harrison):
